STD-Free Living For Teens (99731)R
For presenting to teens ages 13-17
A national survey of hundreds of teens conducted in 2001 showed that about half of sexually active teens knew someone with an STD. Between three and four million teens contract STDs each year. And about two-thirds of all STDs occur in people under the age of 25.
It's important for teens to recognize that a sexually transmitted disease can have a big effect -- and a lasting effect -- on their lives. Let them know that not all STDs are curable, and even those that are can have serious consequences. Make sure teens have the tools they need to protect themselves, starting with the most important one of all: knowledge.
This presentation will let you quickly and easily educate teens on:
- who is at risk for contracting an STD
- how STDs spread
- the common STDs
- the best ways to avoid STDs and stay healthy*
- getting tested for STDs.
*The PowerPoint CD also includes a version of this presentation that does not discuss condom use and that is consistent with abstinence-only requirements. Click here for the presentation "Abstinence For Teens." It features an abstinence-only approach to preventing STDs and pregnancy.
Package also includes 25 copies each of the realistically illustrated booklet "STDs And Young People -- Get The Facts" (73033)A and the full-color realistically illustrated folder "Teens And HIV & Other STDs: At Risk? Get Tested!" (31852)A.
