Sometimes people think it's better not to worry about something before it happens. Some people may not want to alarm their families. But if an emergency strikes, being prepared can actually reduce worry, help people react with confidence, and keep people safer.

Emergency preparedness means being prepared for all types of emergencies, including fires, floods, chemical spills, terrorism, or any event that puts lives and property at risk. It's important for people to take specific steps for the types of emergencies they are most likely to face. Fortunately, much of what they do to prepare will help in any emergency.

The presentation will let you quickly and easily educate your audience on:

  • what emergency preparedness is and why it's important
  • assessing specific types of risks
  • making a family disaster plan
  • preparing for emergencies away from home
  • dealing with specific types of emergencies
  • local and national sources of information.

Package also includes 50 copies of the full-color photographically illustrated folder "Homeland Security: Terrorism: Aware And Prepared" in English (30132)A or Spanish (30165)A.
