H1N1 Flu (Swine Flu) Outbreak
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), H1N1 flu-related visits to doctors, hospitalizations, and number of deaths continue to rise.
In addition, concern is spreading that H1N1 flu could continue to sweep through communities in waves, with one outbreak followed by others -- before, during, and after seasonal flu hits.
The CDC underscores that the seasonal flu vaccine will not provide protection against H1N1 flu, and encourages people to get both the seasonal vaccine and the H1N1 flu vaccine as soon as it becomes available –- noting that availability will come later than expected. In the meantime, people should continue to take precautions that include practicing cough/sneeze etiquette and good hygiene, and staying home and consulting their health-care provider if sick.
Channing Bete Company's publications help you meet the CDC's response goals of:
- reducing transmission and illness severity
- providing information to help the general public, workers, and health-care providers
meet the challenges posed by this emergency
- encouraging people to get the vaccines for H1N1 flu and seasonal flu.
