H1N1 Flu (Swine Flu) Pandemic

Estimates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) show that an average of 55 million people were infected with H1N1 flu between April and December 12, 2009. More than a quarter of a million people were hospitalized in that same period, and thousands died -- numbers that rose slightly by the end of 2009.

As the H1N1 flu pandemic continues to sweep through communities in waves -- before, during and after the seasonal flu hits -- the CDC continues to urge people to get both the seasonal flu vaccine and the H1N1 flu vaccine, and to take precautions such as practicing cough/sneeze etiquette and good hygiene, and staying home and consulting their health-care provider if sick.

Channing Bete Company's publications help you meet the CDC's response goals of:

  1. reducing transmission and illness severity
  2. providing information to help the general public, workers, and health-care providers
meet the challenges posed by this emergency
  3. encouraging people to get the vaccines for H1N1 flu and seasonal flu.
